The Department of Kentucky will be hosting the American Legion Auxiliary’s Homecoming Event for National President Kathy Daudistel during October 7-9, 2021. And as befitting Kentucky, many of the events planned revolved around BBQ, Blues, Bourbon, and of course, the Kentucky Derby.
About a dozen Alaskan American Legion Family members are planning on making the trek to Northern Kentucky, and look forward to the many and varied events planned – a riverboat cruise, horse park and distillery tours, viewing of a very extensive car collection that rivals Jay Leno’s, and concluding with with a Derby-themed banquet! It’s not about meetings and making decisions, but to see where Kathy came from and what shaped her life.
For us Alaskans attending, this will also provide insight into what we need to do to show off our great state of Alaska in a couple years. There is so much to offer; the hard part will be trying to fit as much as we can in 2 1/2 short days.
We welcome the opportunity to share in the events that Kentucky has in store! And it doesn’t hurt that the snow hasn’t fallen there yet, as it has across Alaska.
