As the year ends, it allows a walk down memory lane of 2024! And oh whatta year it was!
I witnessed the amazing work our #LegionFamily does in support of our veterans, our military and their families! I participated in many events that show the patriotism within our communities. I saw many sights – some US landmarks we all know, and some we don’t know well. But what stood out are glimpses of some personal memories, memories that only I witnessed – a quick touch of the hand to a spouse that was emotional, a kind word to a veteran in a home as he played Bingo, the waving of US flags by schoolchildren as a convoy of wreaths drove by.
What I am most proud of is the work done to bring veteran and military suicide to the forefront of our minds and to actually do something about it. I can guarantee that I will continue to talk about it, to say that it’s OK to not be OK . To ask those hard questions like “are you thinking of suicide?” And to LISTEN when someone is struggling. #BeTheOne
I was paired up with two fantastic individuals this year – on the Legion side, Dan Seehafer, and with the SAL, Don “JR” Hall. They are like brothers to me, today and always. Yes, younger brothers, but family all the same. And I couldn’t be more thankful to this #LegionFamily. I know the three of us will continue to #BeTheOne for our veterans and military and do all we can to help them in their mental health so that suicide is not an answer.
Thank you all for a wonderful 2024, and here’s to 2025!
